Tropical myositis is a condition characterised by the presence of suppurative lesions within skeletal muscles. There has been little agreement regarding the terminology various names used include purulent tropical myositis, tropical pyornyositis, tropical skeletal muscle abscess, spontaneous bacterial myositis or epidemic abscess.
